Biography

Thamsanqa Makhanya is the founding Director of TS Makhanya & Associates. He attained his LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2017 and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court on 20 March 2020 after serving his articles at Strauss Daly Inc.

A proud alumnus of the Strauss Daly Internship programme — which selects the most promising law students nationally — Mr Makhanya is also a certified fraud examiner and one of the youngest members of the KwaZulu-Natal Municipal Bid Appeals Tribunal (MBAT), which presides over all tender bid appeals in the province.

Prior to establishing TS Makhanya & Associates in January 2023, he served as a Senior Associate at Dlongolo Attorneys and founded the legal consulting firm Rodney Avis (Pty) Ltd, where he remains Chairperson and CEO.

His areas of expertise include High Court and Magistrates Court litigation, forensic investigations, dispute resolution, drafting of opinions, governance and compliance advisory, legislative drafting, government supplier blacklisting and supply chain compliance.
